Seasoned with SaltThinking about Life and DeathReport to the CommanderSir, I would like to report on the Epic Struggle between the Church and the world. Unfortunately, at this time, Sir, the Church is in retreat. Troops are undisciplined, orders from the Commander are routinely ignored, desertions are rampant, injured soldiers do not receive care, recruits are inadequately trained, and powerful weaponry is left in storage instead of being used on the battlefield. Troop Discipline Sir, Your strategy that the forces be of one Spirit is not being implemented, because everyone is doing what is right in his own eyes. Particularly, the enemys tactic of using of wealth and entertainment as a diversion has had stunning success. Instead of remaining in touch with headquarters, our forces are instead tuning in to propaganda of the enemy, especially via the deadly weapon, television. As they spend long hours absorbing the propaganda, they have begun to believe it, forgetting that they are aliens in a foreign land, with their true citizenship in heaven. I request, Sir, that you open the eyes of our people. They somehow seem to have forgotten the unprecedented Price You paid to release them when they were POWs. They act as though they no longer believe that You are returning to depose the current regime and establish your Kingdom. They have lost sight of their mission and are vulnerable to all sorts of attack. Orders from the Commander It pains me to report this, Sir, but the troops are not obeying your orders. They are teaching and publishing strange interpretations of your commands. These are a few examples of their distortions:
I request, Sir, Your hastening the chastening that You have planned, before our troops completely lose touch with the mission. They are in dire need of training exercises, and as in the past, a calamity is the only strategy that seems to get their attention. Desertions Morale is low, Sir, and many of the troops have become weary in doing good. They are trying to use the same inadequate energy sources that are used by the enemy, instead of obtaining their strength as you have supplied in the form of Your joy. The precious seed You planted is choked by thorns, fails to yield fruit, and is destined to be burned with the weeds. I request, Sir, that the officers be directed to inform the forces that the whole conflict has been mapped out, that it will proceed according to Your timetable, that the outcome is certain, and that their job is only to continue to execute the orders You have already given them. Injured Soldiers As in any battle, there have been many casualties. The problem here, Sir, is that the injured are not receiving proper care. It is considered disgraceful to have fallen in battle, and casualties are often shunned as enemies and sent away, rather than healed. I request, Sir, a shipment of the Balm of Gilead, to be administered with forgiveness. As You have said, if they do not forgive, they themselves will not be forgiven. Stores of humility and love are also dangerously low and are desperately needed at this time. If the injured are healed, they can return to the battle stronger than they were before. Training Due to widespread fear, Sir, the recruitment program is not as effective as it ought to be, although there have been some successes. The larger problem is that new recruits are not being sent to boot camp to learn how to be a soldier in Your army. As such, they continue in the ways of the world, and then are surprised when they are defeated on the battlefield. I request, Sir, that each local unit implement rigorous training through prayer, fellowship, and study of the Training Manual. They also need to be taught to throw off that which hinders, so that they can fight with all of their might. Weaponry Sir, although the weaponry You issued still has divine power to demolish strongholds, the troops are not using it. Part of the problem is that they are totally unfamiliar with the use of the equipment. Also, the officers have gotten so accustomed to using the weapons of the world that they no longer employ the powerful weapons You have given them. I request, Sir, that You speak to the officers, reminding them that the struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. In this situation, Your armor is the only effective weapon.
